Hot Pockets.

I never heard of Jim Gaffigan until I heard about his stand-up about Hot Pockets. SO FUNNY. I’m just gonna go ahead and blog about another funny video because around this time of the semester, right before finals, we all need to just take a break and laugh. 

This video was shown to me over a month ago, but as college students we all know exactly what he’s talking about. I know that I’ve had a hot pocket before and it was “boiling lava hot” , burnt my mouth and everything did taste like “rubber for a month.”

I’ve seen him on comedy central a few times and he’s really good. His piece on religion is also really funny…he can be a little foul, but what comedian isn’t??

David Blaine spoof.

For anyone who has ever seen David Blaine’s “Street Magic”, it’s kinda crazy…but then again, so is he. He speaks with a monotone drag and never raises his voice and always asks innocent bystanders if they “wanna see some magic.”

Well, now there’s a guy doing an imitation of him on the internet. There are two different versions – the first one (to me) isn’t as funny, but the second one is hilarious. If you look closely you can see “David” has a fake go-tee and mustache, it looks like it’s painted on with black marker.

Other people have tried to do funny parody’s, but these guys are by far the funniest.

Who really cares about Britney anymore?

Well, Britney Spears has been in all the tabloid magazines lately for going to rehab a few times, getting back in shape (kind of), and now for getting out of a speeding ticket. Who cares. She’s also now wearing blue contacts, it seems like this girl enjoys changing the way she looks way too much.

Personally, I think this girl has made way too many bad decisions and has no chance at a comeback. Her “die-hard” teen fans have all grown up now and every one now realizes after a few years that she really did lip-sync every performance she ever did.

The poor girl, I feel bad for her…I really do. She shouldn’t have married Fed-Ex and shouldn’t have had 2 kids yet, she wasn’t ready.

Funny I ask who really cares about her, but I spend the time to write a blog about her- still……she’s a has been.

Cocaine off of CT shelves

I remember a seeing Brandon Rudat reporting about this a few weeks ago on NBC30, an energy drink called “Cocaine” that was causing a lot of controversy. Most parents aren’t big fans of energy drinks anyway…now that there’s one that is named after a drug, it’s even worse. But the person who took action wasn’t a parent, it was Atty. General Richard Blumenthal. Blumenthal and Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez have ordered the drinks be seized off CT store shelves because the drink is not properly licensed. The commissioner of the Department of Consumer Protection also says that the drink does not have proper coding indicating where the source of the ingredients are from.

There are so many energy drinks these days that, in my opinion, it doesn’t matter what name they’re labeled with – sooner or later a young kid is gonna die from one of the ingredients (that make the heart race) and all of them are gonna be pulled off the shelves.

J.Lo Gets $2Million For 40 minute performance

Jennifer Lopez got paid $1.2 million plus $800,000 for her entourage’s expenses for performing at a billionaire’s wife’s birthday party on Saturday. The party was in England and the guy’s wife is a 30-year-old model (he’s 35). JLo performed for only 40 minutes, then stayed overnight with her husband Marc Anthony at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in London. Apparently, the billionaire (who’s name is way too long) made her an offer she couldn’t refuse and she agreed to perform. He’s worth $5 billion and is known as a banker. He paid Christina Aguilera $4 million to sing at his wedding in the south of France in 2005! Maybe if I write him a letter, he’ll give me a few thousand….he seems to have plenty of money to spare.

What’s the deal with Sanjaya?

I’m not a big fan of American Idol, I watched 1 or 2 episodes this season and witnessed Sanjaya’s singing talents and I remember thinking “Oh he’ll be gone soon.” BUT he lasted until last week! and everyone across America has heard his name atleast once, while many others are huge fans. Maybe it’s the hair? Because it certainly can’t be the voice. He went to the White House this weekend at the Correspondents dinner that was held last night. Last week, after being booted from idol, he said he was going to get a bodyguard. In the article from People.com, he says that if he doesn’t succeed with a music career, he’s going to pursue modeling or acting….of course. In my opinion, American Idol has seen it’s day. They can’t run the show for too much longer, there just aren’t that many good singers in America! Now, the runner-ups are actually seeing more success than the winners except for maybe Kelly Clarkson. Sanjaya proves that America is more interested in people who stick out rather than the ones who can really sing.

Run’s House New Season

Tonight, the third season of “Run’s House” will premiere on MTV. This season will be sure to draw viewers because of the devastating loss the Simmons family faced last fall. In the last season of Run’s House, we saw that Rev’s wife, Justine, was pregnant and everyone was excited. In September, the baby was unfortunately born with a rare birth defect and died soon after it was born. How hard that must have been for them, and to have it all captured on camera must have been surreal, I’m sure it’s footage that they’d rather not ever have to view again. I’m not sure how much they are going to show and/or talk about with that, but I believe the way they handled it is admirable. They are obviously very religious and basically say that everything happens for a reason and they must accept whatever God brings them.

Over 20 Killed in Virginia Tech Shooting Spree

Today at Virginia Tech 21 people were killed by a gunman who also was killed, but it’s unclear whether he killed himself or police shot him. One student was in their dorm and the about two hours afterward, the 20 others were killed in a classroom. A student interviewed for this article said that they were on lockdown, then it was temporarily lifted and that’s when the gunman shot again. The student says that while they are on lockdown again, every student is just surfing the internet trying to find out exactly what is going on. This is the second time this year that the campus has been on lockdown because of a shooting, on the first day of classes in August an escaped prisoner from a local jail shot a hospital security guard and fleed to the campus tech center. This is the deadliest campus shooting in US history. Scary! This could happen anywhere. The gunman’s identity has not yet been released. People.com just posted the story, too.

 I just listened to an interview on MSNBC.com from a student at Virginia Tech, his name is Derrick O’Dell and he was shot in the arm. He said that the gunman just walked into the classroom and started shooting and that he shot atleast 15 to 20 students and possibly the professor, too. He described the gunman as an Asian male wearing a maroon hat and a black leather jacket, he didn’t say anything to anyone and after he shot the students in O’Dell’s class, he left and then tried to come back in but the students who were not as critically injured barricated him out when he tried shooting at them again through the door. It’s now clear that he did shoot himself, the police didn’t kill him and the death toll I believe is now 22.

The Prince is Available

Prince William and his girlfriend of 5 years, Kate Middleton, have split up. After many rumors about a possible engagement, they have decided to break up with an “amicable” split. They met when they both attended St. Andrews University in Scotland. There is speculation that the couple have grown apart since William has spent much of his time lately taking an armored corps commander course 125 miles away from London, where Middleton lives.  Another reason may be the media attention that she has been swarmed with for dating the prince. She received a public apology last week from a British publication after they printed a picture of her going to work. 

Many admired Middleton for resembling Princess Diana in her style and composure, and are quite disappointed that the couple has broken up. Personally, I’m heading straight to England!

Woman sells most of her belongings on Ebay.

A 45-year-old woman from Minnesota is selling almost everything she owns on Ebay with a reserve bid of $2,000. She says that’s she wants to change her life and that she’s at a point in her life where she just doesn’t want it all anymore. Among the things that she’s keeping are her dog, cat, photos, and some clothes.  Some of the things she’s trying to sell are her futon, snowshoes, bed, a Village People album, and seashells, but as of Sunday night, the highest bid was $100. Perry has lived in Montana, Minnesota, and North Carolina and plans to move west soon to possibly persue creative writing or holistic healing. She says that she has been moving this stuff across the country for 20 years and is sick of worrying if it will break during the moves, so selling most of it is sort of liberating.  I tried finding her ad on Ebay, but I had no luck…not that I’m interested in buying anything.
